How to time manage.


Time managing your day can easily make you feel crazy especially when you have to squeeze many appointments in a day.  If you are anything like me and get stressed and easily overwhelmed by everything on your to-do list and by thinking about when you will be able to do them. Time management is the only way you can function.
Let me give you an example of a day: you have a list of things you want to do today like send an e-mail, work on an assignment, do some writing, go to the gym, but you also have work in the middle of the day and you have a mandatory event in the evening? And there is only 24 hours in the day. How does one deal with that? Well you start to think about the little things. Consider how will you get all the things done without a. looking like a mess, b. feeling overwhelmed, and c. running around like crazy. This just happens to be my life because, like I said, I rather be busy than bored. If I’m not running around then I’m sitting around doing nothing and that’s just boring.
You might not get overwhelmed and managing your time eases the pain. But you might be someone who has a hard time getting things done in the day, getting started, or procrastinate on the important things or not putting effort into your own day. Which ever causes you to become overwhelmed here are my tips to time management.
How to time manage:

Plan: This is probably the biggest step and the one that truly is about managing your time- Planning. Every Sunday I write down what I know I have to do in the coming week. But, since every day is different, when I wake up I look at my schedule and see if I need to adjust it for the day and the week. But, since I need to plan and balance school and working this helps. Scheduling your day calms the mind from thinking about the to-do list in your head and enables you to balance your day. Planning out your day and deciding what you will do first and when you will do it will enable you to do the things you enjoy, like going to the gym or shopping because you will know there is a time on the schedule for the fun things in your life. 
Think of the little things: I don’t think a lot of people think about how long it would take to get there, or that you need to bring a snack with you. But thinking about the little things helps you out. For example, it takes me about 25 minutes to walk to work; thus I have to add time to when I have to be at work. This truthfully means I have to get things done earlier.
Mulittask: Thankfully with technology these days you can walk and send an email at the same time; it might not be the safest thing but it gets the tasks done. We are a generation who knows how to manage a lot of tabs, so we can do that when we have a lot going on. 
Supplies: What I mean by this is like what will organize your busy life. For me it’s a planner and post-its. But not only that, it’s having what you need during the day. If you have a long day and you might not have time to sit down for a meal prepare a snack bag. It’s not good when you can’t have a good sit down meal. Eating is important, so make sure you do either carry food with you or eat! Also have a bottle of water with you at all times. Keep the supplies that you need to survive the day on hand.
Overlap the clothes: Since I am trying to get away from the sweatshirt, messy bun look and wear clothes to look like a put together adult, having to wear my smelly uniform to a meeting is not ideal. But, changing means having to carry another bag. Which means that under supplies I should have said suitcase needed, because some days I feel I have so many bags with me, I not only question the things I brought but if I should have just had a suit case.  There are those videos of day vs night looks and they change by the simplest things. This is true for switching from a work uniform to the every day clothes. I have pants that will work for both.
Just do it: I always say you can get a lot done before noon and you can. But sometimes that is not easy. If you have a lot to do and since there are only 24 hours in a day, you will have to rush. You can’t think about the things that are important but can’t do right now. The best thing about putting the energy bunny to shame is that you are getting things done that you probably wouldn’t get done. The days where I have nothing going on I struggle to get anything done. But, the days where I am busy I’m on the ball.

It’s all about planning your day, and making time for the things that you need to do but DON’T forget to take time for what is important for yourself.   If you are feeling overwhelmed and say OMG so much is going on and there is only 24 hours in a day, don’t worry because you got this.
